Will you consider applications from people with bad credit?
At City Finance, we don’t believe that a previous financial error should haunt you for years to come. For this reason, we do offer unsecured loans to people with bad credit. Instead of judging someone solely on their credit score, we take into consideration their personal circumstances too.
If you have a less than perfect credit history, and are concerned you will be rejected, you shouldn’t be. Once you apply for a loan with us, one of our friendly team members will be in touch. During the call they will listen to your current situation, and discuss with you about what loan terms are most suitable for you.
Many people with bad credit assume they’ll be automatically rejected for a loan , so they don’t both trying. This isn’t the case with City Finance – we’ve approved loans to thousands of Aussies with bad credit. So, if you have a bad credit history and are hesitant about applying for a loan, please don’t be.

Is a credit check required for a $5000 loan?
Credit checks are very closely connected with loan approvals. They are the act of returning a number for a potential borrower on a credit report that defines their lending history. This number helps the lender determine whether the potential customer is a high risk to pay the money back, or a low risk.
If a borrower has made late payments, missed payments and/or received a default on their loans or bills in the past, then this will negatively affect their credit score and drag the total number down. If a borrower has a history of making their repayments on time, and taking out medium to large loans and paying them off fully, then their credit score will be high. If a borrower has never borrowed money before, then they will have no credit score, which a lot of lenders consider high risk.
In Australia, credit scores sit between zero (being the lowest possible score) and 1000 (being the highest). The below credit rating key gives an indication of how credit scores are judged:
0 – 549: Very Poor
550 – 624: Poor
625 – 699: Fair
700 – 799: Good
800 – 1000: Excellent
In Australia, a credit check will be run for almost any loan that’s taken out. At City Finance we do run credit checks on our new customers to determine their eligibility. However, even if a credit score is poor or bad, we are still able to offer a loan to some of these customers.
