Many of us don’t give the local council much thought – we tend to just think of them as the ones who empty our rubbish bins or fix potholes in the road. So you might be surprised to learn of these great free programs and services that the City of Swan offer to Midland locals.

  1. Cinema under the stars

What better way to enjoy a balmy weekend evening than with a movie!

  • Head to the Bullsbrook Outdoor Movie on Saturday 5th
  • BYO picnic blanket or bean bag and join family and friends for some outdoor fun. There’ll be pre-movie entertainment including ‘Bumper Balls’ from 5:30pm, and the movie starts at sunset.
  • Pack a picnic or enjoy the sausage sizzle. There will also be drinks and popcorn on sale.
  1. Teen time

Teens have a free and fun place to hang out with council’s Youth Centres.

  1. Get tech savvy for free

Interested in learning more about your iPad?

  • If you’re new to using an iPad – or are considering getting one and would like some hands on experience first – then this free session is for you.
  • Head to Altone Park at 10am on Wednesday 19th The iPad class is a great opportunity to learn how to use and get the most out of your iPad, and have any specific questions answered.
  • Or if you have an Android tablet or phone, they’re covered in a separate Android class at 2:30pm the same day.
  • Bring along your own iPad if you have one.

If you’re looking for a new sport – or way to socialise! – why not try croquet?

  • Bullsbrook Croquet Club invites you to come along and join their first Open Day.
  • An accredited croquet coach will provide coaching and tips for players of all levels, and afternoon tea will be provided. Make new friends and learn a new skill!
  • Catch the free 1pm bus from Ellenbrook Senior Social Space at Woodlake Shopping Centre, and you’ll be dropped back at 5pm.
