Cash Hack- Cheap ways to get fit

Australians spend more than $8.5 billion a year on gym memberships, equipment and fitness fads which works out to about $2340 per household! But what if we told you that you could still get fit and healthy whilst barely spending a cent!

  • Make use of your local park

Whether it’s walking or running laps around the park, or using the free equipment to create your own circuit training, its super easy to use your local park or oval to improve your fitness routine.

  • Enjoy a hike

Google the closest national parks, mountains, lookouts or bush trails near you.  Enjoy a form of exercise that is more exciting than just walking around your neighbourhood. It’s even a healthy way to catch up with mates.

  • Visit the App Store

There are so many free fitness apps and videos on the internet that are simple to follow and easy to use at home with little or no equipment needed.

  • Family fun

One of the best ways to get fit and stay active is to try and keep up with your kids. Go outside on the weekends or after school. Spend at least 30 mins kicking a ball around, playing games or taking the dog for a walk.

  • Join a social sporting team

They are often way cheaper than gym memberships plus committing to a team will help keep you motivated on your fitness journey

  • Try outdoor boot camps

Training in a group is much more enjoyable than the gym, you are instructed by professional trainers, prices are much more flexible and you aren’t locked into a contract.

If you do still want to join a gym, make sure you evaluate it based on features. These include the opening hours, contract lengths, equipment and classes on offer and whether they have any extra joining or maintenance fees.
